Calculate the Tip and Split the Bill
This tip calculator works out the tip amount, the total bill and how much each person owes in seconds. Enter the bill amount, pick a tip percentage and set the number of people sharing the check. It is ideal for restaurants, bars, food delivery, taxis, rideshares and salon visits.
How the Tip Is Calculated
Tip = Bill × Tip Percentage. Total = Bill + Tip. Per person = Total ÷ Number of People.
Example: a $86 dinner with a 20% tip is $17.20 in tip, for a total of $103.20. Split between 4 people, each person pays $25.80.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I tip on the amount before or after tax?
Tipping on the pre-tax amount is the traditional standard, but many people tip on the total for simplicity. The difference is usually small.
What is a quick way to calculate a 20% tip in your head?
Move the decimal point one place to the left to get 10%, then double it. On a $45 bill, 10% is $4.50, so 20% is $9.00.
How do I split the bill evenly with tip included?
Enter the full bill, choose your tip percentage and set the number of people. The calculator adds the tip first and then divides the total, so everyone pays an equal share.
